Flakes out if you use Wifi!
- Pros: First of all, I'm an engineer. I've used (and designed) tons of electronic gear. This is one of about 10 different Logitech models that I've tested. (The other models had no glaring problems).
While this is a terrific -mechanical- design, there must have been a different team at work on the electronics. The wheel's inertia-damping control is great. Though some complain that the settings tend to jump from 'none' to 'full' abruptly, at least this can be adjusted slightly.
The slanted design and size are good for notebooks. Not so small that it cramps your hands. Not too big to carry around.
HOWEVER...
- Cons: This mouse does NOT work well in proximity to Wifi! They used the same frequency (2.4ghz)that is used in laptop wireless--then THEY WARN NOT TO USE THE MOUSE NEAR WIRELESS GEAR!
What an enormous blunder on the part of the designers. You have to wonder why this was approved, much less by a company like Logitech. It was obviously never field-tested.
The symptoms: The mouse 'cuts out' for short intervals, or simply stops working altogether.
This is a known problem, with lots of complaints stacking up. You will see repeated mention if you search for problem reports. Often it won't surface until a month after the mouse is connected (yes, a mystery). Replacing the mouse often fixes it, only to have it surface again later.
Logitech tech support is now farmed out, so you will rarely reach anyone knowledgable. Even if you do, the usual response is 'Turn off all wireless equipment in the vicinity.' If you're OK with that, then this would be a very good mouse.
- Other Thoughts: If/when you end up calling Logitech, you'll probably get someone reading from a numbered list. Hang up. Call back later.
If you can reach an actual technician, ask if they can fix the problem. Many of us would love to be using this mouse. Again, the ergonomic design is very good. Recommended IF you will never need to use Wifi.
Great general purpose: NOT for gaming
- Pros: I ordered this mouse to help remove desk clutter from my corded MX500, liking the laser tracking, detentless flywheel scroll, shape and design (the receiver popping in and turning the mouse off is ingenious); I was hoping to replace the MX500.
Mouse is incredibly comfortable, much more so than even the MX500, and fits perfectly in my hand. I don't use the zoom feature much but the smooth scrolling is a HUGE appeal for someone who has to look through the huge Java API. The ideal mouse for browsing/general computer use.
- Cons: While it's great at everything else, it's terrible for gaming. I haven't used enough mice to know exactly why but I suddenly starting sucking at all of my favorite games. I don't think the tracking is nearly as fast as the MX500 and there are delays (though small) waking it from a sleep state. It's not a fair comparison as the MX500 is often considered a gaming mouse, but it's something to take note of. You won't notice it in regular use unless you're a gamer.
The lack of tracking speed also makes this inappropriate for image editing.
- Other Thoughts: I ended up using the VX for browsing documents/websites and general usage, while my MX500
Lastly, one fun feature this has that my MX500 doesn't is that it can track on glass. Not that I would do so very often but it can be fun to go "MY mouse can track on this window! Can yours?" -_-;;

Best Mouse I've ever used.
- Pros: - Very comfortable. Not too small, not too big.
- Well placed configurable buttons - Smooth tracking - Best scroll wheel I've ever used - Simply CANNOT get dirty. I have used many mice over the years, this one has yet to get dirty with heavy use. It's like they use a miracle material on the outside! - Well defined clicking on all buttons - Very good battery life for 1 AA - Lightweight
- Cons: - For me, the receiver needs to be quite close to the mouse to get a consistent signal. If it has a direct line, it works fine for me. YMMV
- Other Thoughts: By far the best mouse I've ever used. I am a map designer, use photoshop, browse, game etc etc...works great for everything. I game a TON with this mouse and I constantly am able to keep up with pro gamers. Not sure why people cannot game with it, maybe you just suck? :).
Great mouse, so-so software
- Pros: This mouse is nice and compact, but not so small as so to be uncomfortable (though it is a travel mouse, I can and do use it on my main desktop). I have not had any issues with wireless interference as some other reviewers have had.
All-around great mouse.
- Cons: The included software is a hassle sometimes. Nothing serious, just some minor issues I had to work out.
- Other Thoughts: Seriously, if you want a wireless mouse, this is the best one I have used in a long time. Response time is great and I love the multiple thumb and middle buttons for gaming.
VX & MX Revolution
- Pros: I own 2 VX Revolution and 1 MX Revolution. I prefer the VX over the MX but both work well. I purchased the VX when it first came out on the market. I use them both with Laptops. I also use the MX with a Laptop. I love the smooth scrolling! Good Precision depending upon the surface you use them on. I use mine on a hard non-reflective surface (no mirrors or glass).
- Cons: Sometimes on both the VX and MX they loose the Smooth scrolling feature. On the VX its a switch on the bottom (just flip it to click then back to Smooth). On the MX you must do it in the software. I think the last software update may have fixed this problem, haven't had this happen in quite some time now. Wish the receiver for the VX and MX were as small as the receiver for the Nano.
- Other Thoughts: Not really sure what the last poster was talking about, as for the VX Being Flaky in a 2.4ghz Environment. I've had a number of 2.4ghz Routers (Netgear, Linksys, D-Link & Actiontec) (I now have FIOS broadband and use the Actiontec router) in my home with these mice without a problem. Also have at least 3 x 2.4ghz wireless phones in my 1200 square foot home.
