College basketball is about to take over televisions and commandeer office chatter across the country. March Madness tournaments begin next week. If you're turning this into an excuse for a party (and why not?!) here are some slam dunk frugal ideas for your March Madness party.

Fast Break Dip
Ranch dip and veggies score big points on game day. But make it March Madness-worthy with this idea from Kroger. Spread ready-made ranch dip on the bottom of a round platter. Arrange thin cucumber slices to resemble the lines of a basketball. Fill in the rest of the space with baby carrots cut in half.

Finger Foods
Instead of spending loads on feeding friends, make it easy and affordable with low cost finger foods. Guests won't be expecting anything fancy anyway so impress them with Pigs in a Blanket and Pizza Biscuits using refrigerated dough and a handful of other ingredients.

Whistle Napkin Rings
With all those finger foods guests will need something to wipe down their hands. Add a little something extra to your napkins by turning these basketball-shaped whistles into napkin rings. They're clearance priced at $6 for a dozen. Find them at OrientalTrading.com.

Basketball Cake
Turn an ordinary round cake into a March Madness centerpiece with the help of orange and brown candies like M&Ms or Reese's Pieces. Get the full details at blog.cookingchanneltv.com.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Basketballs
Give guests a halftime treat that will get them talking about more than the game. Pick up a pack of Reese's Peanut Butter cups. Using a tube of orange icing and some tips from dukesandduchesses.com, pipe thin stripes onto the cups so they'll look like mini basketballs.

Basketball Hoop Pens
Give guests a Basketball Hoop Pen. A dozen sell for $6 at OrientalTrading.com. It can double as a party favor and as a fun game to play during commercial breaks.
