Spring Fashion 2014: Budget-Friendly Ways to Update Your Look

Posted on 02/26/2014

Spring fashion is great-- except for the price tag hanging on those pretty clothes. Thankfully there is a way to be fashion forward and frugal. We found five budget-friendly ways to update your look for spring 2014.

Cropped Jackets
Snug jackets can stay in the closet. For spring 2014 you'll need a boxy, oversized cropped jacket. This black one from Forever 21 is only $29.80 and can be used to complete a variety of looks from casual to dressy.

Shift Blouse
According to The Independent, boxy tops known as shift blouses are hot for spring. The article suggests adding this French Connection top to your closet, on sale for $97.86 at asos.com. Pair it with slim jeans for an everyday look or a matchy print if you want to be even more fashion forward.

Contrast Color Button Down
Button down tops popped up on runways all over fashion week. A trend spotted over and over were contrasting color button downs. That means the collar is a different color from the body of the blouse, like this one, just $13.99 from vesst.com.

Tuxedo Stripe Pants
When shopping for new spring pants keep an eye out for tuxedo stripes. It can be a subtle or bold contrasting stripe that runs along the outside of the pant leg. There's a plus-sized version marked down to just $19.97 at OldNavy.com.

Bomber Jacket
Bomber jackets are expected to be a spring hit, but make sure you find one in a fun print like the Daytrip Bomber Jacket, marked down to $30 at tobi.com. Or knock out another spring trend--metallic-- by opting for the Silver Soft Bomber Jacket, $79.90 at Express.com. Use promo code 1147 to save $25 off your purchase of $75 or more.
