When you're shopping online you have several payment options at checkout. Often sites allow you to use PayPal to complete your transaction. PayPal is a service that allows you to pay online (and even in some checkout lanes these days) using money in your PayPal account, bank account or a linked credit card. If you've never selected this payment option here are five reasons to consider using PayPal for online shopping.

PayPal Purchase Protection
Similar to safety nets your credit card probably offers, PayPal gives users PayPal Purchase Protection. You're protected if your order never arrives, of if it arrives but is significantly different than described. With PayPal you have 45 days from the payment date to open a dispute.

Hidden Financial Info
Unlike paying with a credit or debit card, your financial information is never put into the hands of a retailer when you pay with PayPal. It works as a third party so while you may give you a credit card number to PayPal, it's not falling into the hands of so many other sources.

$0 Liability for Eligible Unauthorized Transactions
Do you spot a charge for something you didn't purchase? It could mean your PayPal account has been hacked. As long as you report it within 60 days, PayPal promises to launch an investigation. Most investigations will be completed within ten days, but if they need longer they'll issue a provisional credit to your account for the amount for the amount of the fraudulent charge.

Exclusive Discounts
If saving money is your primary goal, PayPal can help with that too. Shopping through the PayPal portal can get you up to 25 percent discounts on thousands of items including exclusive deals.

PayPal Security Key
If you decide you want more protection from cyber criminals, PayPal offers the PayPal Security Key. It creates random temporary security codes to safeguard your PayPal account. You can either use your cell phone for free, or pay $29.95 for a credit-card sized security device that operates in the same manor. In addition PaPyal and Samsung just announced a collaboration on the Samsung Galaxy S5 that will allow users to checkout on mobile and in-stores with their fingerprint, the first technology of its kind.
