Hopefully you don't need a holiday to tell you to be kind, but we could all use the reminder that comes along with celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week. From February 11 through the 17 try to do something nice for complete strangers-- just because. And if you're worried that being kind comes with a price tag, we've got ideas that don't cost any money.

Smile
Phyllis Diller once said, a smile is a curve that sets everything straight. RandomActsofKindness.org suggests committing to smiling at ten strangers one day during Random Acts of Kindness Week.

Donate Your Time
Your time is a precious commodity and giving it is certainly an act of kindness. Find a charity that you're passionate about and serve during Random Acts of Kindness Week.

Let Someone Budge
Normally most of us get annoyed when someone budges in line. But during Random Acts of Kindness Week, brush it off. In fact, welcome it by letting the person behind you go first.

Leave Positive Notes
Head to RandomActsofKindness.org to download and print free bookmarks. Write something kind on the back and leave them in public places, inside a library book or tucked in a magazine at your salon for strangers to discover.

Hold Open the Door
It may seem old fashioned, but manners are always in style. Focus on bringing back the polite practice of holding the door open during Random Acts of Kindness Week.

Return a Shopping Cart
The next time you're at the grocery store or big box store, offer to return someone's shopping cart for them. This simple, yet kind gesture will save them time and showcase your generous spirit.

Write a Thank You
Write a thank you note to someone you appreciate, but have never taken the time to recognize. This could be your local fire department, a worker at your child's school or a neighbor.

Donate Blood
Donating one pint of blood can save up to three lives, according to americasblood.org. If you're eligible (and only about one in three are) donate blood during Random Acts of Kindness Week. This simple step could give someone the greatest gift of all.
