Seasonal Work: Where to Find a Job for the 2012 Holiday Season

Want to take on some extra hours over the holidays? Plenty of companies are looking for additional workers to handle the holiday load, making this a great time of year to find a job. In fact, studies show that 63 percent of hiring managers plan to add temporary staffers. So get your resume ready and consider these companies.

Amazon Amazon must be expecting a huge jump in business over the Christmas season because they've already announced plans to hire 50,000 seasonal workers. CNN reports that Amazon currently employs 20,000 people at its 40 fulfillment centers and these seasonal positions could translate into permanent jobs for thousands of people.

Macy's
Eighty thousand seasonal workers will be welcomed on to Macy's payroll for the holiday shopping season. That's a 2.5 percent increase from last year. Visit MacysJobs.com to apply or to find a hiring event happening in your area.

Kohl's
Kohl's department store says it will bring on an additional 52,700 employees to cover the holiday rush. CNN reports that's an average of 41 new workers per store, a 4 percent bump over last year.

Toys R Us
Five thousand more people will have temporary jobs at Toys R Us compared to last year. The company announced plans to hire 45,000 seasonal workers across the country. Many are being added to work the store's hot toy reservation program. Job listings are posted at toysrusinc.com/careers.

Target
Target will hire fewer workers this year, adding on between 80,000 to 90,000 seasonal employees. Last year they hired 92,000 to help with the holiday bustle.

JC Penney
JC Penney is adding 5,000 more holiday employees this year than they did in 2011. That means there are 40,000 open positions for this retailer. Check out current listings at jobs.jcp.com.

Party City
Party City is adding 20,000 workers and many may already be on board. Halloween is also a busy time for the retailer. Perks include great pay, an associate discount, flexible schedule and a fun environment.
