Facebook may cause you to waste a bunch of time, but it can also save you some cash. Wondering how to turn this social networking site into a money saving portal? Check out these frugal Facebook tips.
“Like” Your Favorite Companies If you want to score exclusive Facebook deals from your favorite companies, the first step is “liking” their pages. This way any new offers they post will show up in your Facebook feed.
Redeem an Offer
Businesses now have to pay Facebook to post an offer. When they do, you must click “Get Offer” from the Facebook post that shows up on your news feed. You may see offers for $10 necklaces to free appetizers at your favorite chain restaurant.
Check Your Email
Once you click “Get Offer” Facebook will send you an email with the full details about how to redeem your deal. It could involve a coupon code or special instructions. Eventually Facebook says you’ll start to see barcodes that you’ll need to show the merchant in order to cash in on your deal.
Reveal Your Location
If you’re a FourSquare user than you’re already familiar with the idea of “checking in” at a location using your smart phone. Facebook also offers check-in deals. Open Facebook on your mobile phone, select News Feed or Places and tap Check In. This will give you a list of deals available near your current location. Check-in deals can range from saving 15% on your purchase at American Eagle to scoring a free toothbrush at your dentist office.
Want to know the best Facebook offers that are currently available without having to “like” every last company or brand? Head to Foibly.com where they’re all listed. Score endless enchiladas for $8.99 at On the Border or half off any regularly priced item at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores. If a company is using Facebook to offer an exclusive deal then you should be able to find it here.
