Where to Find Free Yoga Classes

Posted on 09/10/2012

Flexibility, strength, posture—yoga has lots of benefits that nearly 11 million Americans are already enjoying. There’s nothing new about it. In fact, yoga has been around for 5,000 years. Try it out during the month of September, National Yoga Awareness Month. There are plenty of free opportunities to strike a pose.

Local Yoga Studios In honor of National Yoga Month more than 1800 yoga studios around the country are offering up a free week of classes for new members. The free classes can be redeemed throughout September and October. To participate just head to yogahealthfoundation.org, choose a yoga studio, print out your Yoga Month Card and get started.

Online Instruction
Don’t have time to find a yoga studio? Jump on the computer instead. You’ll find free yoga classes for all levels and all styles on websites like doyogawithme.com or Yogatoday.com.

Lululemon Stores
If you’ve got a lululemon store near you then you can access free yoga classes. Every week the stores push aside their products and unroll their mats for a little yoga time. Classes are led by certified instructors from local studios.

Many hospitals provide free yoga classes that are open to the public. For instance, anyone can join the 6am class at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, California. Hospitals in your area may offer the same free service.

Join Time for Yoga
National Yoga Awareness Month ends with a worldwide yoga practice on September 30. At 7pm local time, yoga students from all over are encouraged to gather and practice this ancient workout. Find a free event happening in your area through the Yoga Health Foundation.
