Five Great Ways to Support Children with Cancer

Almost 13,000 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer each year in the US. And sadly, about one-fourth don’t survive according to the American Childhood Cancer Organization. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month which spotlights the importance of raising funds for research and family support. Since kids can’t fight cancer alone, here are five great ways you can show your support.

Wear Pajamas Organize a PJammin Day at your school or workplace as a fun way to raise money for the American Childhood Cancer Organization. Everyone who wants to wear PJs must donate at least $1 to the cause. Download free event materials at pjammin.org.

Go for the Gold

Shop in the St. Jude Gift Shop
Buy a t-shirt, a teddy bear or even jewelry in the St. Jude gift shop and you’ll feel good knowing you’re supporting kids with cancer. Proceeds from every purchase benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Host a Bake Sale
Put your sweet tooth to good use with a Cookies for Kids’ Cancer bake sale at your school, church or business. Register your event and download free signs at cookiesforkidscancer.org. Money raised funds new and less harmful treatments for pediatric cancer.

Donate Airline Miles
Don’t let those airline miles expire—instead give them to a child in need through the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Wishes in Flight program. They need more than 2.5 billion miles, or 50,000 round-trip tickets, to grant wishes each year to terminally ill children, many with cancer. By donating your miles you can help wishes come true for these brave children.
