Summer should be a time of excitement, learning and growing for kids. While trips to theme parks and adventures at summer camp can be great, they can also be expensive. Free Crafts on Saturdays
Every Saturday at Lakeshore Learning Store, take your kids in for free crafts from 11am to 3pm. Upcoming projects include creating a pet fish, decorating an Olympic torch and building a summer fan.

Free Building Clinic at Lowes
Every other weekend Lowes welcomes future carpenters into the store to participate in a free Lowes Kids Clinic. Pint-size builders receive a free apron, goggles, patch and more. Plus they get to build something cool like a Kung Fu Panda toy.
Free Book from Barnes and Noble
Keep your kids reading all summer long with the Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program. Kids can read any eight books, logging their progress in the printable Reading Journal. Once complete they can turn it into the local Barnes and Noble store for a free book.
Movie theaters across the country are welcoming kids in with free summer movies. Free kids’ movies start at 9:30am on various days at Great Escape theater locations. Free movie screenings start at 10am every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at Muvico theaters. And there’s a free movie playing every day of the week at Cinemaworld during Summer KidFest. Adults may have to pay a couple of bucks at some locations, but it’s still a great way to entertain the kids while keeping cool.
