If you haven’t been to a theme park lately you might be in for sticker shock. A single ticket at some of the most popular parks in the country can set you back $100 or more. That makes a family trip to the theme park an expensive excursion. But here are some unique ways to try to cut costs on admission at some of the biggest and best theme parks.

Save With a AAA Discount If you’re a member of AAA you can score discounts to Disney, Universal and Six Flags. Find deals online or simply visit a AAA branch to buy tickets. The savings at Six Flags is up to 30%, plus AAA members enjoy a 10% savings on in-park merchandise.

Consider an Annual Pass
For many theme parks, there’s not much difference between the price of a one-day admission and an annual pass. So if you plan to visit the park more than once in a year, you’ll definitely want to consider upgrading to an annual pass. It could save you lots of money over time.

Use Your Costco Membership
If you’re a member of a savings club like Costco or Sam’s Club, check out their selection of theme park tickets. You may be able to score a better price through Costco than you could if you waited to buy your tickets at the theme park gate.

Look for In-State Deals
If you’re not going to a park that’s out of state you may be able to get a better deal. Often parks offer discounts for in-state residents. For instance, at Universal Orlando, Florida residents can save more than $35 off gate prices. Check the park’s website for details.

Look on Facebook and Twitter
Many companies like to reward their followers and fans with special discounts. Theme parks are no different. Do a little digging and check out the park’s Facebook page or Twitter feed. You may just find that they’re offering a special social media deal on theme park admission.
