The biggest kick off of the year happens on February 5 in Indianapolis. While tickets to the game start at about $2,200, there are still ways to experience one of the biggest athletic events of the year on a budget. You can bet it will be chilly there in Indiana, but if that’s not enough to deter you then here are some last minute tips for experiencing Super Bowl XLVI without spending a fortune.

Take the Field Before the Game There are other opportunities to get in to the Indiana Convention Center before the big game. Starting Friday, January 27 and running until the day before the big game is the NFL Experience Presented by GMC. A $28 ticket gets you into this interactive theme park to play games, attend free autograph sessions and check out the largest football card show ever. If you plan to take the kids you’ll want to purchase a family pack and save some money.

Buy Parking Now
Reserve your park and ride pass now and it will just cost $2 per person. Or you can pay on site and it will cost you $10. A little pre-planning can save you some cash.

Visit the Epicenter of Awesome
Tickets to the big game may cost a pretty penny, but getting to the epicenter of awesome is completely free. That’s what organizers are calling the family-friendly Super Bowl Village. Downtown Indianapolis will be transformed into a three-block interactive festival of football. The fun includes live performances, a zip line and a live ESPN broadcast studio.

Take Part in the HealthBowl

You may not be able to compete for that shiny Super Bowl ring, but you can definitely compete in the HealthBowl. Register for the HealthBowl 5K scheduled for January 28 starting at 9am. The $20 ticket includes free health screenings, free Xbox workouts, a motivational speech by athlete Laila Ali and a chance to meet NFL players.

Super Bowl Gospel Celebration

Join host Wayne Brady, Christian artist Natalie Grant, several NFL players and more for the 13th annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration. It’s been called one of the three best Super Bowl events to attend by USA Today and it’s among the most affordable. Tickets start at just $39. While seeing the Super Bowl in person could be considered a spiritual experience, this probably will be too.
