Free Resources to Help You Count Calories

Weight loss is basically a numbers game where the calories you burn need to come out ahead of the calories you consume. Tracking those digits has never been easier with a smorgasbord of free resources that will help you count calories and get healthy.


USDA’s Super Tracker The United States Department of Agriculture just launched a new free tool to help Americans keep their New Year’s resolutions. SuperTracker is a state-of-the-art tool that helps you do more than track calories. You can also see if you’re hitting your recommended daily allowance for the various food groups.


MyFitnessPal App
The MyFitnessPal app says they have the largest food database of any calorie counter. With over 1.1 million foods, you’ll probably be able to find what you ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner without having to guess at the calorie content. If you’ve got a Smartphone this is a great free way to count calories on the go.

Three million people are already members at Calorie Camp, a free resource for those who want to know what’s in their food. Type in what you ate today and the vast database will help you pinpoint the calories you consumed. For instance, type in “cheese” and you’ll get a list of 100 types and brands. In addition to calories you’ll also see a nutritional letter grade so you know whether you’re making healthy choices.

Webmd.com is a leading online source of medical information so why not head to them for help with calorie counting? Find nutritional facts including calories, fat, carbohydrates and more found in over 37,000 foods and beverages.


Calorie King
Eat out a lot? Then Calorie King could be the tool for you. The website features a free database with 290 brands, 35 subcategories and 31,505 foods. Search through every restaurant menu from Applebee’s to Zaxby’s.
