While Dia de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, seems like a scary holiday, it’s actually a celebration of life. Marked by bright colors, flowers and artistically designed skulls, Day of the Dead comes at the beginning of November each year. Celebrate it in style and on a budget with these tips.


Take Part in Community Celebration Communities all over the country are marking the Day of the Dead with fun activities, parades and festivals. Take part in one of these free events including the Dia de Los Muertos art exhibition in Chandler, Arizona or the Atlanta Day of the Dead festival on Sunday November 6.


Create Your Own Day of the Dead Alter
According to experts Day of the Dead alters are typically constructed on November 1. Based on holiday tradition, souls of the deceased can then visit on November 2.
