Rachel Paul had a dream for her 9th birthday. It wasn’t the typical 9-year-old birthday dream of Justin Bieber CDs, Barbie dolls and video games. She had a dream of giving clean water to people she’d never meet. Rachel died in a 13-car accident outside of Seattle, prompting thousands of people to give to her birthday dream. If you’re inspired by Rachel’s selflessness, consider donating your birthday to a worthy cause.

Charity: Water - In honor of her birthday Rachel Paul created a donation page at MyCharityWater.org. She set a goal of raising $300, a number that has been surpassed nearly 2000 times. She wrote, “I found out that millions of people don't live to see their 5th birthday. And why? Because they didn't have access to clean, safe water so I'm celebrating my birthday like never before. I'm asking from everyone I know to donate to my campaign instead of gifts for my birthday.” You can make your Charity:Water donation page just like Rachel did.

Water of Life - Water of Life is bringing clean water to Third World countries including Liberia and Sierra Leone. Help fund a drilling project there by creating your own donation page in honor of your upcoming birthday. Head to GiveFreshWater.org and fill out a short form to get started.

ECHOage.com - ECHOage.com is an online birthday party service that links your child’s invitations with a cause of their choice. Guests RSVP and contribute online. Once the celebration is over, ECHOage will send the donations to the charity your child selected. Choose from a bunch of charities including Nourish America, Autism Speaks and Reading is Fundamental.

One Day’s Wages - Make your birthday count by making an impact for those living in extreme poverty. Create your “birthday for a cause” campaign at OneDaysWages.com. But besides asking others to donate, ODW hopes you’ll consider donating your day’s wage on your birthday.

Causes.com - Create a Wish at Causes.com and make a difference for your birthday. You can choose just about any charity to support. So far Cause Wish creators have raised more than $12 million for various non-profits.

Razoo.com - With Razoo.com you can give your birthday, but keep the party. Encourage friends to donate to a worthy cause by creating your own fundraising page. Share your request through Twitter, Facebook and email. Then the rest of the year you can feel good knowing you helped someone in need.
