Save Money at Theme Parks and Water Parks

Posted on 06/13/2011

A heat wave is rolling through much of the country’s mid-section. In Chicago last week, weather experts say temperatures reached a 34-year high with the mercury hitting 95 degrees. When temperatures soar there are few things that bring relief better than getting wet. Find respite from the heat and from the expense of a summer trip to the theme park or water park with these tips.

Disney - Recent polls from Travelocity and Orbitz say Orlando is the number one family destination this summer. Last year the city welcomed a record-breaking 51.455 million visitors. Before you head to Disney this summer make sure you visit The Disney World website and preview special offers. You’ll find discounts on vacation packages as well as reduced ticket prices for members of the military.

Six Flags - There are more than a dozen Six Flags locations around the country. If you plan on hitting one up this summer you’ll definitely want to head to first and check out their combination deals. You can save money by purchasing your admission ticket, parking pass and food at the same time.

AAA Discount - It’s easy to forget about that AAA Discount, but be sure to use it when purchasing tickets to theme parks and water parks. For example, you can save $3 per ticket at Aquatica, $3 at Busch Gardens, or $4 at Wet ‘n Wild.

Use Printable Coupons - Some theme parks even offer printable coupons online. Save $16 on your admission ticket to Wild Waves Theme Park in Washington with this printable coupon. There’s also a printable coupon that will get you and up to three other people into Water Park of America in Minnesota for just $9 a person. It’s a half day pass that will run from either 10am-4pm or 4pm to 10pm. The deal is valid until the end of June.

Search Group Buying Deals - Group buying deals are all over the place now. You can save big through sites like Groupon, Living Social and kgb Deals. But keeping up with all the fantastic discounts can be a job in itself! Give a try. They’ll search for all of the deals available in your area—including discounted tickets to theme parks and water parks. Tell them what you’re looking for and they’ll alert you when a deal comes along you might be interested in. It takes the work out of saving money on your summer fun.
