There are some extremely expensive hobbies, but what if rather than costing you money your hobby actually made you some money? You could do something in your free time that you genuinely enjoy while earning extra cash.

Photography - There’s a place in the world for high-end photographers, but there is also a market for those who consider it a hobby. Try volunteering your services for charity events and then selling your images to those in attendance, giving part of your proceeds back to the non-profit. Or perhaps you could fill a niche by photographing children, pets or real estate.

Party Planning - Bridal events, baby showers, birthday parties: there are so many special occasions to celebrate in life. But with busy schedules plenty of people aren’t able to invest as much time into throwing great events like they want to. That’s where your party planning skills can come in handy. This hobby can be especially great if you’ve got a full-time job because most parties happen on evenings and weekends.

Fitness - If you’re a fitness fanatic there’s no reason why you can’t burn calories while building up a nest egg at the same time. Reach out to local gyms or your neighborhood YMCA. You’ll likely have to go through some certification training, but your interest in fitness can easily impact your finances.

Practice Entrepreneurship - Perhaps you dream of owning your own business. Get going with that goal by making it your hobby. One example—selling gorgeous Stella and Dot jewelry in your spare time. If your hobbies involve marketing, public speaking and fashion this could be a fun way to boost your income.

Crafts on Consignment - If your hobby involves making something, whether it’s art, journals, or tote bags, try selling it on consignment. Lots of local and online shops love fresh inventory and when they sell it on consignment it reduces their risk. Find retailers like to help you make some extra money.

Teach Your Skill - If you know how to knit, cross-stitch or paint you could easily make some extra cash by sharing your knowledge with others. Organize classes through your community’s recreation department or art museum. Chances are you’ll get paid for your time and they’ll take care of getting students to sign up.
