Gas Perks for Summer Travel

The travel industry knows high gas prices may be putting the brakes on your summer vacation. But before you decide to stay home and sulk, check out the creative fuel incentives many hotels, resorts and vacation destinations are offering. They’ll help you fill your tank so you can focus on fun.

InterContinental Hotels Group - When you stay two weekend nights in a row at an InterContinental Hotel you can earn $75 in vacation pay. They’ll give you a prepaid MasterCard that can be put toward gas expenses. This deal runs until the end of August 2011.

Marriott - Various Marriott hotels are handing out gas rewards as well. For instance, take a trip to North Carolina, stay two nights at a participating Marriott location and you’ll receive a $25 gas card at checkout.

Embassy Suites - Embassy Suites hotels across the country are promoting a Gas Card Package that includes a $25 gas gift card along with a hotel room, free breakfast and complimentary drinks.

Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency San Antonio - According to USA Today, the Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency hotels in San Antonio are holding a “Fuel Your Stay” event in June. The deal gives guests up to $75 in credit for food, drinks and parking. The amount you receive is based on the mileage you traveled to get to the hotel. Just show staff your gas receipts and stay a minimum of two nights.

Asheville, North Carolina - Many B&Bs in the Asheville area are saying “tank you” with special gas savings packages. Nine bed and breakfasts are providing discounts that include cash back and 15% off food at participating restaurants.

Irvine, California - Hotels in Irvine banded together to offer specials and discounts that they say will help ease the pain at the pump for vacationers headed to Orange County. Various hotels including the Hilton, Hyatt Regency and Residence Inn are offering gas gift cards with your stay.

Panama City Beach, Florida - Panama City Beach is “Giving Tanks” this summer to the travelers who pay them a visit. In an effort to reward travelers who don’t let the price of gas keep them home they’re offering gas gift cards when you stay at participating resorts. For instance, at Counts Oaks Resort Properties you get to spin a wheel to receive a free gas card worth between $10 and $200.
