It’s a sticky situation—someone you love asks for money. Financial experts advise to tread carefully when it comes to loved ones and money. So we wanted to know what you would do if a family member asked for money. Through Twitter and Facebook you told us whether you would hand over the cash or turn them away.

Facebook
Haden Baker: Happens all the time...you give it to them....they're family.

Steven Jones: how much?

Stephanie Storm-Robertson: Depends on the family member and what they need it for.

Jeannie Crofts Evanchan: Ooh, that's a tough one. I've known so many families who stop talking over bad money or business deals. Don't think it's worth it. If they don't pay you back, you don't want to resent them forever.

Jodee German Moffett: Would depend how much and to which family member.

Nick Fisher: If they’re needing enough to have to ask....HECK YA! I would give um the shirt off my back. (once or twice) (:

Twitter
@KelliMarks: I loaned my sister $1,200 once. I didn't tell my husband. She gave me a ring as collateral, I will never do it again.

@TheyCallMeCheap: It'd have to be really important 4 me to say yes. Plus, it couldn't be due to mismanagement. No loans, just gifts.

@KimMurphy: I think it would depend on what it was for! Wouldn't loan it though, just give. Could cause unwanted tension if not paid back.

@KCBolt: I think it depends on the situation but I would like to think I would help as much as I was able to. Family is important.
