If the weeks leading up to Christmas are all about shopping for others, then the post-holiday sales are all about scoring deals for yourself. It’s a great time to take advantage of huge bargains and deep discounts during Christmas clearance sales. But not everything is marked down. Here are the best things to buy after the holidays.
Wrapping Supplies - If you’ve got the room to store it, now is the time to stock up on Christmas wrapping paper, holiday gift bags, tissue paper and bows. If you find some that’s neutral or plain, be sure to grab that. That way you won’t have to wait until the holidays of 2011 to actually use it.
Toys - You may feel like you never want to step foot in another toy aisle after Christmas shopping, but you can actually score some incredible deals for the kids in your life. If you’ve got any impending birthdays, baby showers or events you may want to stock up on the toys in the clearance section.
Decorations - It can be odd to spend money on something that’s just going to go into storage until late next year, but if you want to amp up your holiday decorations or replace some of those old energy-sucking Christmas lights now is the time to do it. You’ll score strings of lights, greenery, and ornaments at a fraction of the price.
Gift Sets - If it’s got a holiday-looking package, then expect it to be marked down significantly after December 25. Everything from dish soap to body wash comes in Christmas gift sets these days, so keep an eye out for these holiday deals.
Household Items - Big box stores tend to bring in specially packaged gift items for the holidays and once Christmas is over prices are slashed on these products. Look for things like candles, blankets, serving trays and dish towels.
Crafts - Craft stores are full of Christmas-themed merchandise that’s marked down after the holidays. Plus these days not everything is red and green. Chances are you can find glitter, ribbon, and other craft supplies in a wide array of colors that you can use for projects throughout the year.
