Checkout lines on Black Friday can be as long as the Rolling Stones’ career. Avoid waiting in line for two hours just to save $3 on a couple of DVDs you didn’t really want in the first place. Here are some tips for spending less time waiting in Black Friday checkout lines. And as the magical Black Friday day draws closer, keep an eye out for the deals you've been waiting for at the Ben's Bargains Black Friday Deals page!

Do Your Research - Think of Black Friday as the mid-term test and the Black Friday circulars as your all-important study guide. Review them. Learn them. Commit them to memory. Know which deals you want to snag from each store so you can get in and out as quickly as possible.

Make a Written Plan - It will be hard to remember where all of the best deals are so write them down. Create a Black Friday cheat sheet and be sure to include the times for each door buster deal. Don’t waste valuable time figuring out your plan of attack! This way, you’ll be able to beat the biggest crowds and get your shopping done while others are still hitting the snooze button.

Take a Buddy - You can’t be in two places at once, but with a shopping buddy you can. Give one person the job of hovering near the check-out line and another person the job of scoring the merchandise. Use your cell phones to communicate progress and ETA’s. That way, when the merchandise is in hand and you’re heading to the cash register, your shopping buddy can hold a place in line.

Bring the Ad with You - Sometimes things don’t ring up correctly. Make sure you have your ad in hand so that you can avoid waiting around for a cashier to confirm a sale price that was featured on page three.

Get There Early - To avoid the lengthiest lines get there early—like before the store opens. The truth is many shoppers can’t drag themselves out of bed, even for 50 percent off flat screens. So by getting there early you’ll be beating the major rush and spending less time in line.

Bring Cash and Cards - Be ready to pay with any means possible, whether that is cash, check or credit. Often stores have certain lines dedicated to one payment type. If that lines seems shorter—get in it! By having options you may have to wait less.

Look for Self-Check Lines - Despite their ease, many people avoid the self-checkout lines. Look for them for a faster way to get your purchase completed so you can be on your way.

Know When to Jump Ship - Sometimes the length of the line determines the value of the deal. If you know you’re going to be stuck in line for two hours just to save $10, be willing to walk away. You may be able to score a better deal without having to wait in line at the next store.
