Did you know you can be both frugal and Earth friendly? Retailers are offering tons of free or super cheap ways to go green. This year celebrate Earth Day in a big way even if your budget is rather small.

Go green and save green with the Bargainist Best Bets below!

Pick Up a Free Gift for Recycling
On April 22, Earth Day, head to any Disney Store. Bring three plastic bottles with you and you’ll get a free gift. Although we’re not sure what the free gift is, chances are it will be something with Mickey on it.

Cover Your Hot Water Heater
Cover your hot water heater with an inexpensive thermal blanket. It’ll set you back about $20 at a hardware store, but end up saving you roughly $30 off your bill the first year. Also, if you switch your washing machine cycles from using hot water to cold you’ll shave even more money off your energy bills and it won’t cost you a thing.

Get Free Reusable Grocery Bags
Want a better answer when asked “paper or plastic?” Get reusable grocery bags for free. Kroger is giving them away at DesignAReusableBag.com. Just design your unique bag and they’ll give you a free shopping tote for participating.

Stop Junk Mail
For just $20 a year you can stop junk mail with Tonic Mail Stopper. They work with over 6,500 direct marketers to make sure you only get the mail you want. And just think of all the trees you’ll save. Plus, when you join, they'll plant 5 trees in your name!

Score a Free Burrito
Not sure what burritos have to do with going green? Then it’s time to experience Evol Burritos. They’re all natural and organic and if you’re one of the first 50,000 people to sign up at evolburritos.com you’ll get a coupon for a free one.

Snag Free Seeds
Campbell’s soup is giving away 22.5 million tomato seeds as a part of their Help Grow Your Soup campaign. Just give them your details and soon your seeds will show up in your mailbox. Put your green thumb to work and you’ll be enjoying fresh tomatoes in no time.

Conduct an Energy Evaluation
Identifying air leaks in your home will help you put a stop to energy loss. Light a stick of incense and pass it around windows. Look for horizontal smoke to know if you’ve got a leak. Also, shut a door or window on a piece of paper. If you can remove it without tearing the paper, you’ve got a leak. Use low cost weather stripping, silicone sealant or door sweeps to fix the problem and reduce energy loss.
